We believe in the transformative power of film when watched together in a community instead of alone in front of a small screen. By experiencing the stories of others, we gain greater context for their actions, we become more sensitive to social cues, we learn compassion, and – very often – we begin to feel less alone.
These impacts are particularly relevant to young viewers. For many preteens and teens, film can spark conversations that lead to school programs or clubs that address tough issues—such as racism, sexism, homophobia, bullying, and depression—that might otherwise be too difficult or uncomfortable to talk about.
WHO BENEFITS AND HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
We work with elementary school through college-aged students, as well as the parents, guardians, coaches, and teachers who care about them. Our films can reach anywhere from 250 to over 2,000 people per school.
"Angst captures what so many people are suffering in these complicated days: the bullying, perfectionism, panic, obsession, and too often, hopelessness. Angst is cathartic and ends with notes of hope. Every school needs to experience this program. It's that important."
- Dr. John Duffy, Clinical psychologist, best-selling author
"That LIKE will inspire you is an understatement. Quite simply, it's the most important film I've ever seen on this topic."
- Dr. Joe Dilley, best-selling author
"We fund access to programming that inspires social change. We deliver this programming directly into schools and communities and include resources, tools, and curriculum to empower, create balance, inspire human connection, and scalable positive impact. Our current and past projects include The Upstanders, LIKE, Angst, Screenagers, The Empowerment Project, and Finding Kind. Some of our programs are now a core component for ongoing education and as a therapeutic tool for mental health professionals. These programs effectively start the conversation and the tools and curricula keep the conversation going."
